Happy New Year

A bit late, I know!  Although here in France New Year celebrations and greetings continue throughout January. Just want to wish you all health and happiness for 2012 and to thank every one of you who read, follow and comment on this blog.

And now for some really good news; remember this post: http://thefrenchsampler.blogspot.com/2010/09/help-free-billy-burton.html

Well, shortly after Christmas Billy Burton recieved a full pardon by the President of the Philippines and after eighteen years of incarceration in the Philippines, Billy will shortly be returning home to freedom in Britain. A great start to the New Year, for Billy and his family and friends.  And of course a big thank you to his supporters, campaigners and everybody that took the time to sign the petition and send letters, which all helped towards securing Billy's release.  The power of the internet when used in the right way can be a wonderful thing.

  1. Happy New Year, Dash! That is fantastic news about Billy Burton. I had not seen your 2010 post yet so I just went back and read it to learn more about him. On another note, I love that photo of the hungover Marie-Antoinette. Of course, things got much worse for her along the way than a Champagne-induced headache. The Guillotine made sure of that! (bad, bad joke, I realize ;-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  5. Kirsten Dunst as a hungover Marie, I know exactly how she feels though my surroundings are a bit more humble.
Thank you for sharing the joyous news about Billy, I often wondered about him.
Sweet of you to thank us all for the help but it is you who deserves thanks.
I would open up a bottle of champagne to celebrate his freedom but it is too soon after New Years, I cannot look at champagne for at least another month, I will however raise a glass of wine in your honor and to Billy's long overdue freedom.
This is indeed a good start to a New year.
    X David
